原盘画质很差。原生分辨率是骨头社祖传的 720p。主要瑕疵就是欠码，极度欠码。线条周围有明显蚊噪，平面有极宽极重的色带。线条还很糊，伴有较重的锯齿和轻微的振铃，噪点则聊胜于无，由于色带太重，噪点层中甚至都有残留的色带。我们参考了美版 BD，色带情况略好一些，但有较重的振铃问题（推测是美版在灌录前进行了没必要的拉升），同样不好处理，所以最后我们还是使用日版 BD 进行了制作。如此严重的色带问题，无非就是大力去色带或者直接加噪点掩盖，出于码率控制考量，我们选择了前者。在算法选择上，我们使用了针对巨大色带的新式算法，尽量减少了纹理损失。至于其他欠码问题则采用了基于神经网络算法的自适应去色块处理。由于线条质量也欠佳，我们在逆向拉升重构时选用了更费算力但相对优质的还原拉升算法。其他就是常规处理了：抗锯齿、补偿性锐化、自适应降噪。
The quality of the original source is subpar. The native resolution is 720p, which is typical for BONES productions. The main artifact is caused by an extreme lack of bitrate. Visible DCT noise is present around the lines. Flat areas suffer from extremely wide and heavy color banding. The lines look blurry, accompanied by heavy aliasing and slight ringing. While there is some noise, it is insufficient to mitigate these issues. Residual color banding is present even in the noise layer, due to the intensity of it. We referenced the USBD, and the banding situation is slightly better, but there are heavier ringing issues(The presumption is that the US version is upscaling unnecessarily before recording), also not easy to handle. So we ended up using the JPBD for the production. With such a serious color banding problem, there is no alternative but to powerfully de-banding or just add noise to cover it up. For bitrate control considerations, we chose the former. In terms of algorithm selection, we used a novel algorithm for huge banding that minimizes texture loss. For other issues caused by insufficient bitrate, we applied an adaptive de-blocking process using neural network algorithms. Due to the poor line quality, we used a more computationally intensive but higher-quality reversible upscaling algorithm for descaling and reconstruction. The remaining steps involved standard processing techniques: anti-aliasing, compensatory sharpening, and adaptive denoising.
